General Policies
1. Use fee for the Community Center is
$100 per day and a refundable deposit of $50 per event. Both
the use fee and deposit must be made at City Hall 3 days prior
to use date to confirm booking. Extra fees may be assessed when
deemed necessary by the City Council.
2. Deposit returns will be made on the
first business day after the use date and only after the building
has been inspected for cleanliness, damage, and missing items.
3. Certain functions require permission
from the Abernathy City Council. These include but are not limited
to:
1. Dances
2. Commercial Business
3. Flea Market
4. Events requiring admission fees
5. Groups meeting regularly
4. Facilities may not be rented or used
to offer or exhibit for sale any goods, wares, merchandise, or
other commodities without application to the City Council for
a permit. (Ordinance)

6. When the intended use is questionable,
the City Secretary and/or City Manager may, without notice, require
the party requesting reservations to obtain Council permission
prior to booking the Community Center.
7. Reservation periods are from 8:00 a.m.
to midnight. Keys to the building will not be issued and the
City will arrange to have the building opened.
8. Reservations are accepted from responsible
adults. Reservations for youth or children's groups must be chaperoned
adequately. The chaperones must remain throughout the entire
function. For Adult dances including more than 30 persons, the
services for one paid security officer must be used.
9. The person who reserves the facility
is responsible for the behavior of those persons attending the
function, up to the point where legal action is needed.
10. All city ordinances must be obeyed.
Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs,
firearms, knives, or other weapons on public property is prohibited.
11. Subletting, transfer of use, or any
use other than intended functions are prohibited and cause for
immediate removal from the building.
12. Reservations for political functions
may be made if the public is invited, all candidates or sides
of an issue are invited to participate and the meeting is sponsored
by a third party.
13. Decorations are permitted but may not
be attached to the walls or ceiling in any fashion. All decorations
must be removed at the end of the reservation period.
14. Reservations may be refused by the
City at any time for failure to observe rules during previous
use of the facilities.
15. The person who reserves the facility
must sign a copy of rules and performance expectations at the
time of reservation. |
