- Abernathy EMS
provides emergency medical service to the Communities of Abernathy
and New Deal.

- We also provide
back-up assistance to other EMS agencies including Petersburg,
Hale Center, Idalou, and Shallowater.

This volunteer
department is staffed by your neighbors and friends who give
the community their time and work so that all can be assured
of emergency service when needed regardless of the time of day. |
- Abernathy EMS
operates two ambulances which are provided by Lubbock County
Hospital District and UMC.
- Both units are
BLS with MICU capabilities
|
- Response area
covers approximately 437 square miles.
- (FM 37 north to
FM 179, FM400 west to FM 1294)

Abernathy EMS volunteers
are highly trained men and women who stop their personal lives
at the sound of a pager in response to your emergency or community
disasters. |
- Patient
confidentiality is maintained by each member.
- Patient care
is the number one priority for the Abernathy EMS.

- What is required
to be come an EMT
- EMT-B (Basic) 110 classroom
hours, 10 clinical hours.
- EMT-I (Intermediate) EMT
and an additional 60 to 80 hours.
- EMT-P (Paramedic) EMT-I
and approximately 1,000 hours of classroom and clinical time.
Continuing education is
required to maintain certification.
You Can Volunteer
We utilize Texas certified
EMS personnel to staff our Unit as it provides 911 emergency
service to those in need. The City of Abernathy may even provide
no cost EMT-B training to those who qualify. |
